Okay moms or soon to become moms, I am about to share something that someone should have shared with me before I became a mother. As much as you love your kids and as much as you try to do everything by yourself (grandmas would say everything has to go over your back because that is the right way to be a mother), the truth is, it is much easier if you use BABY GADGETS and be the Supermom that can do everything without dying every night!
For example, why would I turn into a sonar when my child is sleeping in the other room and destroy my nerves by reacting to every little sound (or what I thought was a sound) from that direction?! Thanks, but NO THANKS! We live in a modern era, people have invented baby monitors for that!
But, before we enter the world of practical lifesaving baby products, I just wanted to say that the most expensive doesn’t always mean ‘the best’. There are baby products that are cheap, yet serve the purpose just as good as some 5 times more expensive model would do. So, today I will talk about those cheap, effective baby products you definitely need for modern parents.
Best Cheap Baby Products that are Real Lifesavers for Parents
As promised, here is the list of baby products that helped me numerous times, yet kept my budget unharmed.
1 ♥ My Size Potty
This adorable miniature toilet helped both of my kids end their potty training journey much sooner than other kids their age. The trick is that they feel like grownups while sitting on it, and the flushing sound that comes out of it when they pull the handle after a job well done is a great bonus. And, it is really easy to clean. Once we got, both kids got off diapers in a matter of some 10 days.
2 ♥ Travel System
Travel systems usually cost a small fortune. But, no one says you can’t find a high-quality baby travel system for a much lower price. You should have seen my reaction when I discovered the 1st Smooth Ride Travel system! For that price, I didn’t hesitate to buy it, and once we got it, it even got the hubby’s “Nice quality babe” seal of approval. This system comes in many color choices, and besides the really durable stroller (survived both my kids and still looks like new), you also get the onBoard seat for the car, that is not only well built, but is also narrower than those high-end models, and doesn’t take too much space in the back seat.
3 ♥ Inflatable Duck Tub
Baths are always fun, right? But, they are really hard for your back and you always have to stay on your toes so that your baby doesn’t slip and hit their head or swallow some of the water from the tub. For this reason, I bought the Duck Tub for my second child. Not only that I don’t have to worry about him slipping and getting hurt, but he simply loves his “Duckieee”. And, it even has a built-in “sensor” that lets you know if the water is too hot, and even a drain so that you can empty it easily. Pretty cool hey?!
And for bath toys that you need to keep your children entertained while they bathe and for more cheap products that will make your life easier as a parent, check out this awesome blog post, 10 Bath Toys Under $10 by MrsNewMommtl for more than you will need when it comes to bath-time fun, all cheaply under $10!
4 ♥ Baby Carrier
Now, this little “gadget” saved my back during many grocery shopping sessions. It is a simple, affordable (really cheap) baby carrier that works far better than other, overpriced models. The thing I love the most is that the straps are wide, padded, thus really comfortable, and thanks to waist strap, you distribute the baby’s weight evenly and your back is spared the pain. It also includes a detachable hood to cover your baby’s head. To be honest, I think that when they were infants, both of my kids had the longest naps while I was carrying them in this.
5 ♥ Baby Food Feeder
Now, this cheap baby product is the cheapest you’ll find on this list. It’s not only the cheapest but it’s a miracle product when it comes to feeding your children. Especially for fussy eaters. This for me and my child, served two different purposes. One, it allowed me to feed my child without the risk of choking. Secondly, as I tend to have fussy eaters, it made meal time, fun and exciting for them. They viewed it as a toy rather than as food. There is a lot of mothers that use it and swear by it, you can read more about it on Jeanil’s blog post, Baby Fresh Food Feeder.
Also: It’s also a great product when your child is going through teething. For more teething products, you can check out letmommybe.com!
6 ♥ Baby Audio Monitor
Personally, when it comes to baby monitors, unlike some parents (not judging, just saying) who want monitors that come with fancy infrared cameras, sensors, two-way Comm, and a bunch of other features (I find useless), I just want a monitor that will allow me to hear if the baby is awake, nothing more. I don’t work as a detective, so why “invade” the baby’s privacy, right? With this baby monitor, this is exactly what I got. Easy to use, great sound transmission and loud enough, and allows me to have my coffee in peace on the balcony.
7 ♥ Illumibowl
Now there is no excuse NOT to buy this product. At only $9.99 for the projector version or the $14.99 for the IllumiBowl Germ Defense, this will not only be YOUR SAVIOR for nightly trips to the toilet (yes you will love it as much as we do!), but so will your kids. As we mentioned on Potty Training Secrets blog post, it’s one of our #1 products recommended for when you are potty training your children. Check out illumibowl.com for more information and to buy.
8 ♥ Nightlight
This is a great option for fussy sleepers aswell as making your life easier during night time feeds and diaper changes. There is so many available and they are so cheap. Not only do they provide subtle lighting for your sleeping baby but they soothe and calm them to sleep. There are so many cute designs to choose from that they also serve as a cute decoration piece in your babies nursery.
9 ♥ Cool Diaper Bag
A diaper bag is something that I never leave home without. The Fisher-Price FastFinder Deluxe Messenger Diaper Bag is a real lifesaver because it allows you to easily store all the necessary things when you go out with your kids. And, it is all really easily accessible (even the smallest pockets are easy to reach and are nicely marked with a red label so that you can locate them right away). And, maybe the most important thing, it is really modern looking yet the price is a bargain!
10 ♥ Folding Booster Seat
Kids love their feeding seats and so do we. They make holding them in place and partially localize the food bombs in one “small” radius, not all over the house, right? But, as you probably know already, they are quite robust, we trip over them all the time, and we can’t take them to grandpas… But, this little seat changed all that for me. You can strap it to any kitchen or dining room chair, it’s really easy to clean, and judging how my kids love to sit in it, I can safely assume that it’s really comfortable. Oh, the best thing, it can be folded once your baby is done with eating, meaning no more purple pinkies for us.
Go Go Mrs. Gadget!
There you have it, a few things that will, believe me, make your life so much easier (and won’t make you break the bank!). Once you get them, you will ask yourself how you managed to survive without them before (I know I did).
Gadget on, love your baby and keep in mind that our parents didn’t have such things, yet we all survived, so consider yourself lucky we live in the modern era and we can get these baby products for cheap!
